VIGNETTE NO. 7 - JONATHAN BIGGINS

BECKETTS PRESENTS VIGNETTE NO. 7 - JONATHAN BIGGINS in “KRAPP’S LAST TAPE” BY SAMUEL BECKETT

Wednesday 3 May 2023, 6:00pm–10:00pm
Limited seats. One night only. Ticketed event.

Well known actor and satirist Jonathan Biggins is known for his popular annual comedy show THE WHARF REVUE affectionately now called: THE REVUE and performed at the Seymour Centre Theatre. In his writings Biggins is both topical and political; he reminds us to re-examine our choices and to laugh at ourselves.

On May 3rd he will perform for us a 25-minute theatre vignette of Samuel Beckett's play: KRAPP’S LAST TAPE. The character he plays is a 69-year-old man who every year creates a tape reflecting on the past 12 months of his life - for comparison with his younger self. And in true Beckettian style he contemplates the void of human existence with black and pertinent humour. Favoured by audiences everywhere Jonathan Biggins comes to us for this one night only. How lucky are we to have superb Beckett acting in Beckett’s Restaurant.

Theatre Vignettes are ticketed and performed in the downstairs Private Wine Cellar of Beckett’s in an intimate setting of 60 seats. It is accompanied by a magnificent four course dinner with a selection of wines by our Sommelier.

Theatre Vignettes are held every two months (depending on which actors are in town and depending on when our founder, Wendy Beckett, is not writing and directing overseas herself). The aim of the night is to celebrate our great Australian actors, writers and performers. To get close-up to them; to get to know them a little better in person. Beckett’s Theatre Vignettes are a newish 'well-kept secret' and already much loved. They are attended by actors, directors, producers, foodies, media and local theatre enthusiasts alike. Book early, it will sell out!
