Beckett's Presents Theatre Vignette No. 8 - The Night of the Playwrights
BECKETT’S IS CELEBRATING AUSTRALIAN PLAYWRIGHTS – all in the one room for one night!
Thursday 27 July 2023, 6:00pm–10:00pm
Limited seats. One night only. Ticketed event.
Australian playwrights are an invisible group of people in our society, working alone and in isolation. They almost never come together socially as there are few if any opportunities or indeed a need given their solo occupation. They work alone or meet with dramaturges or actors or directors but rarely a person in their own field. This dinner is to be the exception! Each playwright will be acknowledged by playwright-theatre director Wendy Beckett also co-founder of Beckett’s restaurant in Glebe.
Usually, our Theatre Vignettes are dedicated to promoting and highlighting the work of actors performing in the current theatre season; the playwright gets forgotten - but not this time! A 25-minute theatre vignette will be performed by an actor between dinner courses: three and four. The cuisine is exceptional, created by Beckett’s Head Chef. The event is held in the downstairs Private Wine Cellar and has the feeling of a private party! Each course is accompanied by a selection of wines (or non-alcoholic wine). These nights are ticketed and book out quickly.
